Paul G. Allen Family Foundation Gives $7.5M To Scientists

The family foundation of Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen, the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, said Thursday that it has granted five projects a total of nearly $7.5M to fund their research efforts. According to the Foundation, it gave a project at MIT $1.5M, a project at Stanford $1.6M, a project at UC San Diego $1.6M, a project at the University of California-San Francisco $1.43M,and a project at Yale $1.44M, for their efforts around "fundamental questions" in Biology. The foundation said the Allen Distinguished Investigators program is aimed at helping researchers gain momentum on projects that typically do not receive support from traditional sources.
