Pelago Hires Engineering VP, Adds Board Member

Seattle-based startup Pelago Inc., operator of the mobile social-networking service Whrrl.com, reported Monday that it has appointed Bill Gossman to its board of directors and hired Jeff Ayars as vice president of engineering. Pelago described Gossman as a seasoned executive with more than two decades of leadership experience. He is currently president and chief executive officer of Revenue Science and holds 11 patents, Pelago said. Ayars, the company added, boasts more than 17 years of software development and management experience. Prior to joining Pelago, he served as chief technology officer for another Seattle startup, Konamoxt Inc. Before that, he spent 11 years with RealNetworks. Pelago is a privately held company backed by Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield and Byers, Trilogy Equity Partners and Bezos Expeditions.
