Sarcos Robotics Scores Funding For Robotic Exoskeletons

Sarcos Robotics, a developer of robotic exoskeletons initially targeted at the industrial robotics space, has raised a funding round, from Caterpillar Ventures, GE Ventures, and Microsoft Corporation, the company said on Monday. Size of the round was not announced. The company said the funding goes to develop its team and to accelerate production and deployment of its Guardian line of robots, which are aimed at the construction to manufacturing, oil & gas, mining, infrastructure inspection, logistics, public safety and military markets. Sarcos is based in Bellevue, along with Salt Lake City, Utah. Peter Klein (former CFO of Microsoft) and Ray Quintana (Cottonwood Technology Fund), Ralph Taylor-Smith (GE Ventures) and Seattle investor Dennis Weibling all join the company's board with the funding. Sarcos Robotics was founded by Ben Wolff, Dr. Fraser Smith and Dr. Marc Olivier.
