Seattle Tech Veteran Lilleness Acquires Smartlabs

Seattle-based private investment firm Richmond Capital Partners, which is run by technology veteran Rob Lilleness, said today that it has acquired Smartlabs, the parent company of Internet-of-things device maker Insteon and online home automation e-commerce site Smarthome. Richmond Capital Partners said it has invested $7.3M in Smartlabs as part of the acquisition deal. Lilleness becomes Chairman and CEO of Smartlabs. Lilleness was most recently President and CEO of Medio Systems, which he sold to HERE Technologies (owned by BMW, Daimler, Audi, Intel, and Tencent). Lilleness also was President and COO of Unviersal Electronics. Smartlabs was based in Irvine, California.
