SpectraWatt Gets $41.4M

SpectraWatt, the Intel spinoff which is manufacturing photovoltaic cells for the solar industry, said today that it has raised $41.4M in funding. The firm, which has operations in Hillsboro, Oregon, said the funding came from Cogentrix Energy, which is a subsidiary of the Goldman Sachs Group; Intel Capital; PCG Clean Energy & Technology Fund; and two other unnamed investors. SpectraWatt said it will use the funding to complete its factory, advance internal operations, for technology development, as well as planned capacity expansion. SpectraWatt's headquarters and new manufacturing facility are in Hopewell Junction, New York. The firm has a manufacturing and advanced technology development facility in Hillsboro.
