Starbucks Targets Facebook Users With Ice Cream Giveaway

Seattle-based Starbucks is jumping into the social media space, saying Monday that it will give away 20,000 pints of Starbucks ice cream, each day, to people who add its Facebook application to their profile. According to Starbucks, from July 6 through the 19th, it will be giving away a total of 280,000 free pints of its branded ice cream to users who send an invite to their friends to add its application; the firm is limiting the giveaway to 800 coupons each hour. The firm is prmoting its Caramel Macchiato, mocha Frappuccino, Java Chip Frappuccino, and Coffee flavored ice creams, which it distributes through grocery and convenience stores in a deal with Unilever.
