Microsoft, Sprint Partner On Mobile Search

Personal computer powerhouse Microsoft Corp. announced today that it is providing Sprint's U.S. customers with a location-aware, GPS-based mobile search service. The service will use location information from GPS-enabled mobile phones to provide local search information to users. The new mobile search product is part of a strategic alliance the two companies formed in November 2006. Microsoft said the mobile search service is available immediately at no additional cost. The firm also said that it will begin providing voice search and visual results on Sprint phones, based on the firm's purchase of Tellme Networks earlier this year.
