Mentor Graphics Releases Embedded OS Software
Wilsonville, Oregon-based Mentor Graphics, a developer of hardware and software design tools, said Wednesday that it has released a new operating system targeted at multimedia devices. The firm said its new Nucleus OS provides power-failure resiliency for multimedia devices which use flash storage. The operating system is targeted at manufacturers of embedded devices in the mobile handset, consumer electronics, and medical device field. The company uses a computer file system which ensures that data is written to flash before information is erased, in the case of a power failure or when a battery dies. The firm did not release pricing on the software.
