Bing Boosts Microsoft

A study of recent Internet traffic from comScore is reporting today that Microsoft's launch of its Bing search engine gave Microsoft a "substantial improvement"--at least, in the short term--to Microsoft's search engine share. According to comScore, Microsoft Sites attracted 15.5 percent of the U.S. web average daily search penetration during Bing's first week, up from an average of 13.8 percent for the previous week. comScore found that Microsoft's share of search result pages went from 9.1 percent for the last week of may, up to 11.1 percent for the week of the launch. The jury is still out, however, on whether that near term blip will carry through to future searching.
