Oregon Firms Benefit From Defense Appropriations Bill

Oregon is benefiting from a Department of Defense appropriations bill specifically naming a number of local efforts for developing advanced technology. According to Oregon Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden, the appropriations bill includes over $60M for Oregon projects, including $3.0M to Advanced Navigation & Positioning Corporation, $2.0M to Microsemi Corporation for developing components for data communications systems for the Air Force, and $19.5 to Wilsonville's FLIR Systems for thermal imaging systems, as well as a separate, $10.9M award to FLIR Systems for a program for improving its thermal imaging equipment. The appropriations also included a significant number of projects at Portland State University, the University of Oregon, and Oregon State University for various research projects.
