Impulse Accelerated Technologies Signs Financial Firm

Kirkland-based Impulse Accelerated Technologies, a developer of FPGA-powered hardware for accelerating software processing, said Thursday that it has signed on investment management firm Athena Capital Research as a customer. Impulse said that Athena has purchased a FPGA-based, financial feed and network packet parsing solution, for use in automated trading, arbitrage, and real-time analytics. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed, however, Impulse said its systems start at $90,000. Impulse's hardware is being used as a coprocessor to accelerate software which parses and analyzes financial feeds and market data.
