GPS Firm Garmin Expands In Oregon

Garmin AT, a unit of GPS navigation firm Garmin Ltd., announced this morning that it is creating a new technical support center in Salem, Oregon, which will house up to 200 employees. According to Garmin, the new technical support center will be at its existing Garmin AT facility in the area, and will augment its existing technical support centers. The firm said the expansion came as a result of "close cooperation" with state, regional, and city leaders, and included tax incentives and workforce training grants. The firm said it is leasing and occupying a 43,000 square foot facility, which is under construction and expected to complete in late January. Garmin said it currently employs approximately 230 people on a 150,000 square foot campus at its Garmin AT unit.
