Digimarc Wins New Jersey Firm

Beaverton, Oregon-based Digimarc, a developer of technology used for digital rights management and digital identification, reported today that it has licensed its mobile visual search software to Catalent Pharma Solutions, a New Jersey firm working on packaging for the pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and consumer healthcare industry. According to Digimarc, the license covers use of the technology on printed packaging, inserts, and labels using smart phones and other digital devices. Financial terms of the win were not disclosed. Digimarc's mobile software allows a mobile phone to see embedded, digital data embedded within advertisements, editorial content, brochures, posters, product packaging, labels and other printed materials. Digimarc said its embedded information is "imperceptible" to humans, and are an alternative to 2D barcodes or QR codes.
