Digimarc Adds German Customer

Beaverton, Oregon-based Digimarc, a developer of digital watermarking technology, said today that it has licensed its Digimarc Discover platform to a German printer. Digimarc said it licensed its product to Westdeutsche Verlags und Druckerei GmbH, which will use the product to allow users to view videos, launch applications, and access other content from its publications using a customized mobile application. Digimarc said its Discovery platform recognized digital watermarks on devices like mobile phones. The firm is offering its technology up as an alternative to 2D barcodes and QR codes, saying its technology does not force publishers to change page layouts or designs. Westdeutsche Verlags und Druckerei GmbH is a printer of 70 magazines and 35 newspapers.
