Cray Wins Upgrade Deal

Seattle-based supercomputer maker Cray has inked an upgrade contract at one of its customers, the firm said Monday afternoon. Cray said that the University of Edinburgh in Scotland has signed a contract to upgrade and expand its Cray XE6 supercomputer. Financial details of the win were not disclosed. The University's Cray XE6 is being used for high performance computing (HPC) by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, part of the UK's national supercomputing service, the High-End Computing Terascale Resource (HECToR) project.
