Amazon Inks Tax Deal With Indiana

Seattle-based Amazon.com has inked a deal with the State of Indiana, to collect sales tax in that state starting in 2014. Indiana is the location of four of Amazon's warehouses, and had not been collecting taxes on purchases. However, according to local media, brick and mortar retailers in that state began to pressure government leaders to reverse that stance, including threatening to file lawsuits against its no-tax on Amazon policy, as other states reached tax deals with Amazon. Amazon's warehouses in Indiana had been built with an understanding that the state would not force Amazon to collect taxes on purchases in the state.
