Mentor's Latest Customer: Tesla Motors

Wilsonville, Oregon-based electronic design automation software developer Mentor Graphics has a sexy new customer to add to its client list: Tesla Motors. Mentor said Wednesday that Tesla Motors has standardized on its toolsets for designing the 12-volt, electrical systems in its cars. According to Mentor, its Capital toolset is being used as part of Tesla's Model S design process.

Usually, Mentor's EDA tools are a quiet part of the design process for electronics hardware designs; however, the Tesla win highlights the company's business in the automotive industry, where its software is being used for automotive wire harness design.
