AppFog Drops Rackspace

In a hint of some turmoil ofter at Portland-based platform-as-a-service developer AppFog, the firm told its users over the weekend that it will be dropping support for cloud provider Rackspace. The email said that support for the Rackspace infrastructure option will be turned off as of May 2nd, according to reports. Part of the appeal of platform-as-a-service (PaaS) offerings has been the ability to move applications from different clouds (for example, Amazon EC2) easily to other cloud offerings (RackSpace or OpenStack) without having to requalify or re-code those apps.
