Planetary Resources Nears $1M Goal For Space Telescope

Need to build yourself a space telescope? Apparently, you can do that on Kickstarter, the popular crowdfunding site, too. Planetary Resources, the Seattle startup which hopes to mine asteroids in deep space, has nearly reached its full $1,000,00 goal on raising funds to build its own space telescope. As of Thursday, the company had over 9,800 backers who had pledged over $890,000 to the company's Arkyd project to build a space telescope--almost all the way to the company's full fundraising goal. The company has 17 more days to reach its goal.
