Maveron Backs August's Smart Door Lock

Seattle investment firm Maveron is betting that the next big thing in the consumer market is a Bluetooth-enabled, smart lock--and is leading an investment in smart lock maker August. August said it raised $8M in its Series A, which was led by Maveron, and also included Cowboy Ventures, Industry Ventures, Rho Ventures, and SoftTech VC. San Francisco-based August has developed a Bluetooth-enabled lock which connects to a user's smartphone, and which replaces a user's normal lock and key with a smartphone and features like logging who entered your home, schedules, and more.
