Itron Wins Expansion In Los Angeles

Liberty Lake, Washington-based smart meter maker Itron reported an expansion of a win in Los Angeles today, with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the city-owned utility which manages the two services. According to Itron, the LADWP has awarded an advanced time-of-use and net time-of-use electric metering contract to Itron, which will help the utility manage net time-of-use residential, commercial and industrial electric metering to the LADWP's customers. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. The LADWP--like other utilities around the country--is used to track time of use and charge different rates on power depending on demand; the LADWP is also using Itron's equipment for a feed-in-tariff program for renewable energy projects in the city.
