Microsoft Expands Effort To Train Military Service Members

Redmond-based Microsoft said this week that it has expanded a new effort to help train U.S. military service members--transitioning off active duty--on its software and systems. Although the odds are slim that the company itself would employ those service members--given Microsoft's big layoffs recently--the effort is aimed at helping service members train for technology jobs at Microsoft or related companies. Microsoft said it just completed an expansion of the Microsoft Software & Systems Academy (MSSA), a 16-week program being run at both Camp Pendleton in California, and Fort Hood in Texas, which trains those transitioning service members on Microsoft's IT technology. The reward for participants: an interview with Microsoft.
