GrabTaxi Sets Up Engineering Center In Seattle

Southeast Asia mobile taxi booking service GrabTaxi--the region's answer to Uber and Lyft--said Wednesday that it is opening up an engineering center in Seattle, led by an Microsoft veteran, Raman Narayanan. GrabTaxi, which is based in Singapore, said the new office will allow the company to leverage Seattle's rich pool of talent, and help it build a dedicated engineering team in the United States. Narayanan, who was formeerly a "Distinguished Engineer" at Microsoft, will be a Technical Advisor to the company and head up the company's recruiting in the United States. GrabTaxi's VP of Enginering in Singapore, Arul Kumaravel, was previously Head of Engineering for Amazon's mobile efforts, and was located in Seattle, where he also had served as Principal Development Manager at Microsoft, working on Sharepoint, Windows and Internet Explorer.
