Amazon Expands R&D At New Minneapolis Office

Seattle-based Amazon.com said late last night that it is opening up a new, technology development center in Minneapolis, to add to the roughly 1,000 full time employees it is staffing up at a fulfillment center in Minnesota. According to Amazon.com, it will create 100, full time technology jobs in downtown Minneapolis--and also donate $10,000 annd mentoring support to local nonprofit Code Savvy, for coding education efforts in the city. Amazon specifically said it would like to hire software development engineers and managers at the new location. The move is unusual for Amazon, which typically has focused more on its fulfillment centers and the fairly entry level jobs those provide to local communities.
