Amazon.com Unlocks Bargain Priced, Ad-Supported $49.99 Android Phone

Seattle-based Amazon.com has released new, ad-supported, unlocked Android phones, starting at the bargain price of only $49.99, for its Amazon Prime members, the company said this morning. According to Amazon, it has rolled out a new phone from BLU, the BLU R1 HD, which is just $49.99, along with a higher priced, $149.99 Moto G phone. Both are unlocked, and are partially supported by personalized offers and ads, a technique pioneered by Amazon.com on its Kindle readers. Both are unlocked and have no contract commitment.
