Vicis Finds $8M For Better Football Helmets

Seattle-based Vicis, which is developing new football helmets designed to dramatically improve protection for players, has raised $8M in seed funding, the company disclosed on Tuesday. The funding apparently came from around 140 different angel investors. Vicis is led by Dave Marver. Vicis says its ZERO1 helmet was developed by neurosurgeons and engineers to reduce the linear and rotational impact forces on the brain during impact. The helmet also includes a number of features to custom fit those helmets to a particular player's head shape.
