Whrrl In Promo With Murphy USA, Due Date

Seattle-based Pelago, the maker of the Whrrl mobile social networking services, has inked a deal with gas station operator Murphy USA to promote the upcoming film Due Date. According to Whrrl, Murphy USA--which colocates with Walmart nationwide--is using it for a social loyalty program driven about the Due Date film. Whrrl said customers using the service to check in at Murphy USA and Murphy Express locations in November will get a chance to win movie tickets, free gas, merchandise, and other prizes. Due Date, debuting November 5th from Warner Bros. features Robert Downey, Jr. and Zack Galifianakis, and is about an expectant father force to hitchhike across the country. No details on the business arrangements between Pelago and Murphy were disclosed. Pelago is venture backed by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Bezos Expeditions, T-Venture, Trilogy Equity Partners and Reliance Technology Ventures.
