ZocDoc Launches In Seattle

ZocDoc, an Internet startup which allows users to book doctor's appointements online, said Monday that it has launched in the Greater Seattle area. The firm said it will allow patients to book with participating primary care doctors, obstetrician-gynecologists and dermatologists throughout the Seattle area. The firm--which is based in New York--did not say exactly how many doctors it has so far signed up for the service. The firm is backed by more than $95M in venture funding, including funding from Amazon.com's Jeff Bezos, DST Global, Founders Fund, Goldman Sachs, and Khosla Ventures. ZocDoc said the idea for ZocDoc came to founder and CEO Cyrus Massoumi on a flight from Seattle ot New York. Seattle is the 14th area added to the ZocDoc service.
