Amazon Bumps Kindle Battery Life, Adds PDF Support

Seattle-based Amazon.com has bumped the battery life of its Kindle reader, the firm said today, and also added a native PDF reader to the electronic book reader. According to Amazon, the latest generation Kindle now has a battery life of up to seven days, even with wireless turned on, an increase from a previous life of four days. Amazon said that the battery gains came as a result of a six month firmware improvement and testing program. In addition to the battery life increase, Amazon said that its 6-inch Kindle now includes a native PDF reader, so that documents in PDF format can be read without converting into its electronic book format. The battery life improvements and PDF capability are also available to prior purchasers of the Kindle via an automatic update.
