Classmates To Pay $11M To Settle Deceptive Marketing, Billing Allegations

Seattle-based Classmates, the online website which connects users to old classmates and contacts, has agreed to pay $11.0M in total to settle charges of deceptive marketing and billing by the company. The settlement was announced by a group of 21 attorney generals of states and the company. The payout comes as a result over charges that Classmates.com had automatically signed up users in recurring, third party programs during signup, without adequate disclosure of billing arrangements.
