Digimarc Targets Publishers With Online Service
Beaverton, Oregon-based Digimarc said today that it has launched an online portal site which looks to help publishers embed digital watermarks into their magazines, newspapers, and other print publications. The firm said it is offering up access to the site for a limited time at no charge, to help publishers create links on articles and advertisements to online content, interactive ads, and other content. Digimarc develops digital watermarking technology which allows publishers and advertisers to embed links to articles and other online content, without those watermarks to be visible to users. The firm is marketing the technology as an alternative to 3D barcode technology like QR codes, saying that the watermarks to do not occupy valuable real estate on printed content and do not detract from aesthetics. The firm provides Android, iPhone, and other apps to detect those watermarks.
