Fastdata.io Gets $5M For GPU Data Processing

Fastdata.io, a company that is developing GPU-native software specifically aimed at real-tie stream processing--and which has an office in Seattle--has raised $5M in a seed funding round, the company said on Tuesday afternoon. The funding was co-led by CrossCut Ventures and Pelion Venture Partners, and also included NVIDIA. Fastdata.io is led by CEO and founder Alen Capalik. The company said it specifically uses NVIDIA GPUs to provide real-time stream processing of big data in motion, accelerating operations by more than a 1000 times versus a traditional CPU. As part of the funding, Pelion Venture Partners's Ben Lambert and CrossCut's Brian Garrett will join the company's board, as will retired Admiral William Fallon, who formerly led both the U.S. Pacific Command and U.S. Central Command. Fastdata.io is based in Santa Monica, California, with an office in Seattle. More information »
