Starbucks Outage Caused By Database Table Delete

The massive point-of-sale outage at Starbucks on Friday? All due to an accidental deletion of a database table related to the company's used of a third party point-of-sale (POS) system, according to a note leaked on Reddit. The snafu--which caused Starbucks stores to close early and baristas to give out free drinks--apparently came when someone deleted the main POS table in the company's Micros Simphony POS registers.
