Microsoft: Juku Copied From Plurk

Redmond-based Microsoft issued a statement Tuesday, saying that it has confirmed that the code for the firm's Juku microblogging service in China was indeed copied from Plurk. Microsoft, in apologizing publicly to Plurk, said the code was copied by a third party it had hired to develop the feature, a Chinese vendor for its MSN China joint venture. Microsoft said the copying was in violation of its contract with the vendor, and its own policies around intellectual property. The firm said it would suspend access to the Juku beta indefinately, and had assumed responsibility for the situation. Plurk went public yesterday with evidence of the copying on its company blog.
