Google Challenges Amazon With Its Own eBook Store

Search engine giant Google has launched its own, electronic book store this morning, challenging Amazon.com's dominance with its Kindle bookstore and readers. According to Google today, it will alow users to buy books for a variety of devices, including Android, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Nook, and Sony devices, along with web support with its new electronic book service. The new bookstore puts Google in direct challenge with Amazon, Apple, Borders, and others in the electronic book market. Google said it will feature more than three million titles on its electronic book site, including titles from the Google Book project, the controversial effort by the firm to scan titles from libraries.
