Microsoft Offers Up $250K Prize For Security Technology

Microsoft said Wednesday that it is hoping to stimulate research into security technology, through a new effort to award $250,000 in cash and prizes to researchers creating new, computer security protection technology. Microsoft said its new, Bluehat Prize competition is an effort to simulate research into the area of defense computer security technology. The firm said it hopes the prize will help increase defense against entire classes of attacks. The prize will award a $200,000 grand prize, and $50,000 for the second place prize. Microsoft said it >would accept submissions until April 1, 2012 for the contest.
