ACD Systems Expands To Antivirus Software, Cuts Pricing

Seattle- and Victoria, BC-based ACD Systems, which is best known for its photo management and editing tools, said today that it has expanded into antivirus software. The firm said it is shipping a new product called acdOne Antivirus + Total Security, which is aimed at protecting photos, documents, and videos from viruses, worms, malware, and spam. The new product will retail for $34.99 for one PC for one year, or $39.99 for three computers for one year. In addition to the expansion of its antivirus software, the company also said it is slashing the prices of its other software--the firm now offers its flagship ACDSee Pro 5 software for $99.99, down from an original price of $239.99. The firm also slashed prices on its other products by similar amounts.
