Local Firms Line Up With Windows 8 Apps

A long line of local companies have lined up with Microsoft's launch of Windows 8, saying they have announced Windows 8 versions of their software and apps Thursday. Seattle's RealNetworks said it has launched RealPlayer Express for Windows 8; Seattle-based Urbanspoon said it will make a version of its restaurant discovery app available through Windows 8; Seattle's AllRecipes announced two Windows 8 apps; and INRIX said it is shipping its free traffic application on Windows 8, as well. Amazon also announced a Windows 8 version of its Kindle reader yesterday, as well. The companies are just a small slice of online information providers who are providing Windows 8 applications.
