Microsoft In Massive Restructuring

Microsoft is in the midst of a massive restructuring today, as the software giant said that is is launching a "far-reaching realignment" of the company. According to Microsoft, the move will help create "One Strategy, One Microsoft", moving the company beyond what it called a "collection of divisional strategies." Core to that move is a consolidation of its product divisions into, instead, a company driven by function--engineering, marketing, business development and evangelism, advanced strategy and research, finance, HR, legal, and COO. Microsoft said the move would make the company "more coherent for our users and developers." The overall changes echo the changes seen in Microsoft's entrepreneurial efforts a few weeks ago, wrapping all of its outreach to entrepreneurs under the Microsoft Ventures entity.
