UW The New Battleground In The War For Artificial Intelligence Talent

There's a war for computer science talent going on between the software giants, and it's centered at the University of Washington, according to an article published in the WSJ. According to the article, Google, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft, and many other companies are intensely competing for both researchers and Ph.D. students out of UW, as they look to increase the storehouse of aritificial intelligence expertise at their companies. UW has long supplied computer science expertise to companies--with research already funded by Microsoft, Amazon, Intel, and others--but, apparently, that battle has heated up significantly, with seven professors leaving the school for Google in recent months.
