Amazon Denies Security Issues In Elemental Hardware

Amazon--along with Apple and Supermicro--has issued a statement, saying that yesterday's report of a massive Chinese hack of hardware developed by Elemental is untrue. According to AWS, "it's untrue that AWS knew about a supply chain compromise, an issue with malicious chips, or hardware modifications when acquiring Elemental." The statements came after Bloomberg published a report claiming that a massive Chinese hacking attack was uncovered as part of the Amazon acquisition of Elemental, based on using secret networking chips introduced onto Supermicro motherboards used in Elemental's products.
