    Widevine Gets Digital Watermark Patent


    Seattle-based Widevine said today that it has been awarded a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark office, covering protection of webisodes and webcasts sent to digital consumer electronic devices. The patent, number 7,150,045, is titled "Method and apparatus for protection of electronic media" and was granted Tuesday. Inventors on the patent include Katharina Veronika Koelle and William Worzel. Widevine said it now has six patents granted, and over 45 pending. Widevine is a developer of digital watermarking and copy protection technology.
