![]() Tuesday, February 20, 2007 Widevine Gets Digital Watermarking PatentSeattle-based Widevine said today it has been issues a new patent for a patent covering the encryption of multimedia content. The patent, U.S. Patent number 7,165,175, was granted January 16th and was entitled "Apparatus, system and method for selectively encrypting different portions of data sent over a network". According to the company's patent filing, the inventors named on the patent include Brad Kollmyer, Brian Baker, Eric Shapiro, Aric Kollmeyer, Mike Rutman, Duncan Maclean, Dan Robertson, Neal Taylor, Dick Hunsche, and Amanda Walker. The patent was filed in September of 2000. Widevine said that the patent covers unique techniques for applying encryption to multimedia content.
