Cray Turns To Intel's Haswell Chips

Seattle-based Cray said this morning that it will use Intel's latest Xeon "Haswell" processors in its next generation Cray XC and Cray CS supercomputers. According to Cray, it will use the new Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 product family chips in its complete line of supercomputers, including both air and liquid cooled models. Each Cray supercomputer uses thousands and thousands of chips for its processing capability.
