Microvision Buys Motorola Patent Portfolio

Redmond-basd Microvision, a developer of pico projectors and miniature projection display technology, said today that it has purchased what it describes as a "significant" patent portfolio from Motorola. Microvision said the patents were purchase from Motorola subsidiary Symbol Technologies, and includes what it says is the "largest, broadest, and earliest" filed laser pico projection and display portfolio outside of Microvision's own patents. The firm said the acquisition brings its total patents owned to more than 500 patents and patents pending. Financial terms of the patent purchase were not disclosed.
