Amazon Backs Sonian

Seattle-based Amazon.com is one of the lead investors in Sonian, a Massachusetts-based developer of cloud archiving services. According to Sonian, it raised $9M in a Series B funding led by strategic investors Amazon.com and Webroot. Other investors in the round included Summerhill Venture Partners and Prism VentureWorks. According to Sonain, the funding will go towards research and development and business expansion. Amazon's investment in Sonian was led by Jeff Blackburn, Senior Vice President of Business Development. Sonian uses Amazon's Web Services as its back end infrastructure. More information »
