FLIR Rolls Out Thermal Cameras With Digi-Key

Need to design in your very own, thermal imaging camera into an electronic project? It's a lot easier today, thanks to a deal between Wilsonville, Oregon-based Flir and electronics distributor Digi-Key, who said today that they are making Flir's thermal imaging cameras available via distribution. The cameras--which start at around $175.00--are built to be designed into products by engineers and hobbyists into their own products. FLIR and Digi-Key said the cameras are at a price point which is an order of magnitude below other thermal camera cores. FLIR is targeting the camera at applications such as safety and security, unmanned, automation, smart devices, robotics and gaming and augmentation. Complete thermal camera systems typically cost hundreds or thousands of dollars.
