Bill Gates Backs Company Developing Meats, Cheeses From Plants

Can you truly get a delicious cheeseburger made, not from beef and cheese, but from plants? Bill Gates has put his backing behind a startup that thinks it can. Impossible Foods, which says it is using plants to make the "best meats and cheeses you'll ever eat"--including that cheeseburger--said today that it has raised $108M in funding. The funding came from UBS, Viking Global Investors, Horizons Ventures, and Khosla Ventures, in addition to Bill Gates. Impossible Foods is based in Silicon Valley. More information »
