Zune Goes International

Redmond-based Microsoft announced last night that it is in an international expansoin of its Zune digital entertainment service. According to Microsoft, Zune has inked deals with major entertainment companies to provide music and movies for the U.K., France, Italy, Germany, and Spain. The firm said Zune's services will be available sometime this fall, across Windows-based PCs, Windows Phone 7, and via Xbox LIVE. Exact release date of the internatioanl support was not announced, but the firm said it would tailor the service for each of the markets. Zune's European music offering, Zune Pass, will cost 9.99 euros/8.99 pounds per month for unlimited download and streaming access. Music purchase, video purchase, and movie rental options will vary by country.
