Itron: 35 Millionth Gas Module Shipped

Liberty Lake, Washington-based smart meter maker Itron said today that it has shipped its 35 millionth gas communications module. The modules are used by gas utility customers to wirelessly read natural gas meters. The firm said the shipment went to NiSource,a provider of natural gas and electricity to customers in seven states. Itron is a maker of smart metering products, and has been seeing an upsurge in shipments and interest in the last few years due to interest in the smart grid and automation of meter reading.
